the quality or state of being physically strong


Everything I need is already within me.

I learned a lot when I was in the ICU, as I waited until I was strong enough to endure surgery. Did you read that? Read it again, when I was waiting to be strong enough? I wasn’t waiting, it was already within me, I just didn’t realize it yet. The same is true for you.

Body builder. Muscle. Stamina. The physical skills and capabilities to confront difficulties of all kinds. I would imagine that is what comes to mind when you hear the word strength. However, there is another form of strength aside from the physical, that is mental strength.

As a cancer (zodiac), I am often told I am emotional and moody. Sure, that’s true. I own it. But wouldn’t that also mean I am mentally strong? Mental strength is key in understanding and responding to your emotions. This form of strength begins when you notice what’s on your mind, identify it and keep pushing through - good or bad. I think what’s critical to understand here is, we have what it takes. We need to work on the correct muscles. Emotional Intelligence. Awareness.

Just like in my yoga practice, I need to be intentional and build stamina within my body. Learning new poses and deepening my stretches only enhances my yoga practice and experience. Why? Because I am working the proper muscles. The same is true with your mind, be kind to yourself, be intentional with your thoughts, when in doubt, offer grace, count your blessings and always keep pushing through.

You don’t need to sit back in an ICU bed and wait to become strong. You are strong. You already have what you need within you.
